Harbourside Joinery

About Us

Two people, one workshop

Harbourside Joinery is run by two joiners working from a single workshop on the edge of the harbour. Everything we make—wardrobes, kitchens, staircases—is built on site by our own hands. Nothing is outsourced. When you commission a piece, the same two people who assess your space and discuss the design are the ones building it in the workshop and installing it in your home.

Why oak and ash

We work almost exclusively in oak and ash. Both are durable hardwoods that age beautifully and sit well in older houses. They're honest materials—you see the grain, you feel the weight—and they're suited to fitted furniture, kitchens and staircases that need to last thirty years or more. Flat-pack alternatives cheapen with time. Real timber improves.

The area we cover

We work within the harbour town itself and the villages within roughly twenty miles around it. That includes the older terraced streets around the docks, where sash window work is common and where the houses deserve joiners who understand period detail.

How we work with you

Start with an enquiry.

Start with an enquiry. Fill in the quote form on this site with details of what you need—a new kitchen, fitted wardrobes, a staircase, sash window repairs.

We visit your home.

We visit your home. We come out to see the space, measure up, talk through materials and design, and understand what you're after.

You get a firm quote.

You get a firm quote. After the visit, we prepare a detailed quote and email it to you. No surprises, no hidden extras.

We book you in.

We book you in. Work is usually booked six to eight weeks ahead given the demand we carry. We'll tell you exactly when we can start.

Small by design

We've chosen to stay a two-person workshop. That means consistent quality on every job—the same hands from start to finish. It means we're directly involved in every commission, not delegating the work out. And it means nothing we make comes from outside; everything is built here.

The trade-off is a longer lead time. Six to eight weeks ahead is the reality when you're not rushing work or cutting corners. But that patience is where quality lives. If you want something made properly by the two people who'll actually build it, we're worth the wait.
